Position Summary:
The University of Idaho's Department of Movement Sciences, in the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences invites applications for a full-time 9-month, tenure-track assistant professor position in the Recreation, Sport, and Tourism Management (RSTM) Program with expertise in the sport and recreation management fields. The RSTM Program is a growing program with a shifting emphasis toward sport and recreation management. The ideal candidate will assist with this programmatic shift through their teaching, scholarly/creative work, and outreach activities. Candidates with applied and scholarly expertise and/or experience in sport and/or recreation management will be highly valued.
The ideal candidate will establish a focused line of scholarly inquiry and publication related to the areas of sport and/or recreation management, as well as the healthy active lifestyles mission of the department. Student involvement, as well as collaboration with faculty in the department, college, and university, is highly valued.
We aim to recruit a dynamic scholar and educator who can bring expertise to our undergraduate and graduate programs. Areas of teaching expertise for this position include but are not limited to the following concepts within the context of sport and recreation: management, marketing, communication, law, finance, and event and venue management. We are also interested in candidates who have the potential to teach other classes in our MVSC graduate curriculum.Expectations of the position also include a commitment to mentoring undergraduate and graduate students and providing service and outreach within the RSTM Program and to the University of Idaho communities.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctorate in Sport or Recreation Management or closely related field. Applicants who are ABD (All But Dissertation) with dissertations near completion will be considered (degree completion by start date is required).
- Scholarly productivity in area of expertise;
- Experience teaching University-level sport and/or recreation management courses or closely related content.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Collaborations with sport organizations at the local, state, national and/or international levels;
- Membership in or understanding of the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM), National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), or other professional associations related to the sport and recreation industries;
- Potential for securing external funding in area of expertise;
- Engagement with students in developing and fostering community partnerships;
- Development and delivery of coursework (e.g., online and face-to-face) for undergraduate and graduate programs; and
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, such as the ability to interact with others with respect and cultural humility.
